Step 1. Register
Step 2. Complete a Short Online Course to Learn About Board Service
Our core course called Good Practices for Good Boards summarizes the essentials of New York State charity governance. You are directed to the course after registration and you will get an e-mail with a Certificate of Completion once you finish it.
Step 3. Visit onBOARD to Apply for Board Positions
You will be approved to use onBOARD, our nonprofit board recruitment program, within one business day after completing the course. Go to the “Candidates” section of onBOARD to create an application and make it "public" so that organizations registered on our site can view it. You can also search for nonprofit board positions (opportunities) on onBOARD.
Step 4. Follow Up
Apply for opportunities that interest you and respond within 1 week if you are contacted by a representative of an organization. It takes a little time to get to know an organization before you join a board; we encourage you to meet with others involved and learn about the organization to make sure there is a good fit.
Step 5. Notify charitySTRONG About Your Match
Please contact us at email@example.com if you join a nonprofit board that you learned about through onBOARD.
